Yellowjackets has bewitched viewers with its murder mysteries, young women's relationships and survival stories. With the cast heading into the wilderness to film the new season, the series will likely return in early 2025. Season 2 left fans on a cliffhanger, filled with unanswered questions. However, these burning questions will have to wait.
The gap between Seasons 2 and 3 can feel extremely long for eager fans. While a rewatch could be an option in the meantime, there are many other shows to explore as well. From television series with the same premise to the ones that tackle similar themes to those that incorporate the same elements, fans are likely to find a satisfying ride to sink their teeth into while waiting for the new season. Yellowjackets Season 3 is coming, and the wait doesn't have to be boring.
10 Grey's Anatomy Involves a Plane Crash
Grey's Anatomy surprisingly checks all the right boxes. Medical settings aside, the show centers around a coming-of-age theme that features the transformation of characters from a more innocent stage of life to adulthood. The main characters face life-and-death situations in every episode. The internship program is essentially a marathon, and many will not make it to their residency. At the same time, the candidates are pitted against each other in a race for glory. It's basically a survival show in a medical setting.
The show does involve a plane crash at some point, in which a bunch of doctors are trapped in the woods for several days. The show then goes on to explore their PTSD. Each episode of the show features a new case while continuing a longer storyline. With each season packed with many episodes, the long-celebrated series can be a good alternative while waiting for Season 3 of Yellowjackets.
9 Four Women Try to Cover up Murder in Desperate Housewives
In Yellowjackets, the adult survivors come together to cover up Adam's murder. They come up with a plan regarding what to do with the body and where to bury him. Some members of the team struggle to keep their mouths shut. This is exactly the plot in Desperate Housewives Season 8.
The other housewives help Gabrielle cover up her stepfather's murder. Susan takes an art class. Filled with guilt, she puts their cover-up story in a painting. Aside from Season 8, Desperate Housewives also enjoys a long history of solving murders and mysteries. For fans who enjoy Yellowjackets' present-day storyline, Desperate Housewives can be very intriguing.
8 The Wilds Has the Same Premise as Yellowjackets
The Wilds follows a very similar premise to Yellowjackets. However, their survival story isn't all that dark. In The Wilds, nine teenage girls are trapped on a desert island after a plane crash. The show investigates each girl's survival story in the aftermath, while also going back to their time before the plane crash and then the interrogation after they are rescued. For those who enjoy the non-linear storytelling in Yellowjackets, The Wilds is a nice surprise.
While the girls in The Wilds didn't have to deal with the mystical symbols and whatever was keeping them in the woods, they had to face challenges living in the wild. The survivors have to rely on their own strength. They also form unlikely bonds that might surprise viewers. While their story might not take a dark turn into something sinister, there is something else going on underneath the surface. Unlike Yellowjackets, the plane crash in The Wilds is all part of an experiment.

7 The Society Adds a Twist to Yellowjackets' Premise
No plane crash is involved in The Society, but the teens in The Society return home from a canceled field trip only to find that everything they know is gone. They seem to be completely isolated from the outside world. While trying to figure out what is going on, the teens have to establish their own society and build a world from the ground up. Similar to the group in Yellowjackets, none of them knows when they'll get out of the situation. They're eventually forced to confront their new reality.

11 Most Shocking Yellowjackets Scenes (So Far)
Some of Yellowjackets' horrific revelations have shocked fans to the core, showing them just how far the show is willing to go.
The bunch of teenagers trying to build a sustainable society have no idea what they're doing. They are impulsive and driven by hormones. Their attempt to organize themselves and live in peace with one another faces the challenges of betrayal, secrecy and distrust. What is perceived as a safe place becomes a zone of terror when one of their own is murdered.

6 Kids Try to Save the World in Stranger Things
The group dynamic is one of the best things about Yellowjackets. Taking place in the '80s, the show features a bunch of kids who have to work together to survive. Stranger Things is all about friendship and kids working together, and it's also set in the past. While they were relatively young in the first two seasons, the kids start to mature in seasons 3 and 4.
The team starts to explore their sexuality and social demands from Season 3 onward, which parallels similar themes in Yellowjackets. While they're fighting monsters and saving the world, they never forget to celebrate life and have fun. Interestingly, the team in Stranger Things also deals with psychic abilities. Eleven, like Lottie, has her own set of psychic superpowers, which come in handy while fighting mystical forces.

5 Hannibal Explores Cannibalism
Yellowjackets explores the morality of cannibalism in the face of survival. The idea of seeing a person as food is simply terrifying. The fear it evokes also has a haunting effect. On the topic of seeing people as food, Hannibal takes the horror one step further. The series, which is very different from Silence of the Lambs, has its own take on murder mysteries and cannibalism. Doctor Hannibal Lecter is a master manipulator, who has been misleading Will since day one.
What's interesting is the show's inclusion of the antler symbol. It's not a coincidence that both shows about cannibalism incorporate the same symbolism. After all, Dr. Lecter is a hunter. He savors every part of his prey and consumes them, which is both ritualistic and sacred (in a strange way). For those wanting to explore cannibalism a bit more, Hannibal is a must-watch.

4 The 100 Pictures Survival in a Post-apocalyptic World
The 100 is a lot like Yellowjackets, but instead of taking place in the past, the series takes place in the future. While a plane crash leaves the girls' soccer team in the wilderness, the near destruction of the earth leaves the survivors in The 100 on an abandoned planet. After 97 years of living on a space station, the survivors send 100 troubled juveniles on an expedition.

Due to its dealing with surviving an apocalypse, the series also involves cannibalism at some point.

3 Sharp Objects Focuses on Twisted Teenage Girls
Sharp Objects is about twisted teenage girls. Amy Adams' reporter returns to her hometown (a place she had vowed to never return to) on an assignment to investigate the murder of a teenage girl. The series focuses on relationships between young women, which might appeal to fans who enjoy the female relationship aspect of Yellowjackets. At the same time, Sharp Objects weaves murder mysteries and secrecy into a seemingly bright teenage life.
Pairing adult investigations with teenage drama, the psychological thriller series follows a very similar format to the storytelling in Yellowjackets. While Sharp Objects doesn't include scenes of girls eating their dead teammates, the show also doesn't run away from difficult topics like self harm and sexual assault. Similar to the survivors in Yellowjackets, Amy is also haunted by her past. Her visit and investigation seems to take a mental toll on her.

2 The End of the F***King World Is Reminiscent of Misty and Walter
Misty and Elijah Wood's citizen detective Walter spark a deadly romance toward the end of Yellowjackets Season 2. For those who crave more of the same dynamics, The End of the F***king World is even better. A self-assigned psychopath has his eyes on his angsty classmate for his first human victim. However, it leads to the two of them skipping town together on a cross-country road trip.
Their romance is deadly and twisted. The dark comedy takes fans on a wild ride as they each try to figure out their issues. Distrust and romance are entangled together while one of them contemplates killing the other. It's safe to say their relationship is turbulent. At some point, they also face the problem of covering up a murder.

1 Lost Is a Must-Watch
It almost seems redundant to include the pop culture phenomenon Lost, given that it is the father of all plane crash survival shows. There's no other show out there that bears more resemblance to Yellowjackets. However, Lost is a rabbit hole. Driven by mystical forces and people who are "brought back to life" to fulfill a purpose, the series dives deep into the mystery of the island.
The series has a similar premise, which sees a group of people trapped in the wilderness after their plane crashes. Jack Shepherd, the doctor in the group, takes the leadership position, guiding the rest. Yellowjackets features very similar group dynamics. When Jack's decisions are in question, the group selects an alternative leader, which is also what happened in Yellowjackets. Lost explores very similar themes.
