CM Punk is back on top! After a whirlwind return to WWE, he's clinched the World Heavyweight Championship. But the journey was far from easy.
On a recent Saturday night, CM Punk battled Jey Uso and emerged victorious, claiming the vacant title with his signature GTS move, securing the pin for the win. The championship became available after Seth Rollins was sidelined due to injury.
This victory is a culmination of Punk's comeback, which began in November 2023. He finally got his hands on WWE gold at SummerSlam this year, only to have it snatched away almost immediately when Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract.
The day after his championship win, Punk shared his initial thoughts at a hockey game in Utah. He described his WWE return as a dream come true, comparing his current wrestling journey to that of a seasoned hockey player.
"Every day’s been a dream. Honestly, every day is gratitude. Obviously, I love hockey so much, I kind of draw the parallels between my wrestling career and hockey, and I’m the old guy in the room now," Punk stated.
He continued, "I’m just happy I get to lace up my skates, and the privilege to be able to walk the room, walk the locker room, and the halls with a lot of talented young stars and seeing all the fans, all the places I’ve been all around the world multiple times. Getting to revisit stuff and see the young and old all love wrestling. It’s great. It’s been a dream.”
In a recent interview, CM Punk declared his current WWE run as the best of his career, believing he's performing at his peak. Despite an early injury setback, he's been involved in memorable matches, including a main-event WrestleMania match.
But here's where it gets controversial... Punk's matches against Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, John Cena, and Gunther have all been major highlights since his return.
Punk is scheduled to appear on this week's WWE Raw, marking his first appearance as the World Heavyweight Champion.
